Product review
This package contains a single 1000BASE-SX SFP transceiver module in the standard SFP (small form-factor pluggable) size. The module operates at 1.25 Gbps over multimode fiber, uses a duplex LC connector and transmits at 850 nm. It supports OM1, OM2, OM3 and OM4 multimode cables and is rated for distances up to approximately 550 meters depending on fiber type.
The unit is built to the SFP MSA mechanical envelope with a metal housing that slides into standard SFP cages. It complies with IEEE 802.3ab Gigabit Ethernet signaling and fits any slot that accepts MSA-compliant SFPs. Physical dimensions follow the SFP form factor so it works in switches, routers, NICs and appliances designed for hot-swappable SFP modules.
Installation is plug-and-play: the transceiver is hot-pluggable with ESD protection and requires no special configuration on compliant equipment. Typical uses include inter-switch fiber links, uplinks to servers or NVRs, and short-range campus or data center fiber connections where multimode cable is present.
The module provides digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM) so transmit/receive power, temperature and other key parameters can be read in real time. Operating temperature is specified from 0°C to 70°C. Note that this is a multimode short-reach transceiver and not intended for single-mode long-haul links.
Pros
- Broad vendor compatibility with many SFP-capable devices
- Hot-pluggable, plug-and-play installation with DDM support
- Supports OM1–OM4 multimode fiber up to ~550 m
Cons
- Designed only for multimode/short-reach links, not single-mode
- Limited operating temperature range for harsh environments
- Some switches may require explicit third-party module support
VerdictA reliable, no-frills 1000BASE-SX SFP module that provides multimode gigabit links with real-time diagnostics. It delivers broad vendor compatibility, easy hot-plug installation and dependable operation in typical data center and surveillance setups. If you need short-range multimode fiber connectivity with DDM monitoring and industry-standard form factor, this unit performs well — though it’s lim

Repeat buyer — very satisfied
I’d bought these before and they work excellently. My latest order arrived in nicer packaging but the modules are just as good as earlier ones.

Performs as expected
No issues in my Ubiquiti switch; paired with an older 1000Base-SX unit and it functions flawlessly.

Simple and reliable
Solid construction and truly plug-and-play. I’ve had several running continuously for about four and a half years without any failures.

Useful for electrical isolation
I used these to break electrical continuity on an outdoor Cat6 run as a lightning safeguard, replacing a surge suppressor with a short fiber jumper. They worked perfectly and are invisible in the link.

Easy setup with Engenius aggregation
Put four of these into an 802.3ad setup between two Engenius switches. They installed hot-pluggably and behaved well when connected with LC multimode fiber.
