Product review

Rated to suppress Class A (ordinary combustibles), Class B (flammable liquids), and Class C (energized electrical equipment) fires, these extinguishers use a dry chemical agent designed for fast knockdown of common household and workplace fires.

The package contains two 5 lb dry chemical cylinders and wall brackets for mounting. Each unit is built with a steel cylinder and an all-metal valve assembly with an aluminum valve component. Operation is via a simple pull-pin and squeeze-lever mechanism, and the units include a pressure gauge for quick visual checks.

Intended for use in homes, workshops, garages, offices, and light industrial settings, these extinguishers are refillable and serviceable at certified service centers. Regular visual inspections and professional maintenance ensure ongoing readiness; when used, they should be recharged by a qualified technician to restore full effectiveness.

Pros

  • Effective on A, B, and C fires
  • Sturdy steel cylinder and metal valve
  • Comes with mounting brackets and is refillable

Cons

  • Heavier than smaller units
  • Requires periodic professional servicing
  • Occasional shipping condition issues reported

VerdictA solid, serviceable option for general-purpose fire protection. The two-pack gives coverage for multiple rooms, and the all-metal valves and steel bodies feel durable. Regular inspections and professional recharging are recommended, but for everyday household and workplace risks this set offers dependable multi-class suppression.

Reviews

    Dependable, well made

Amerex has a solid reputation. These feel high quality and are made in the U.S. I own multiple units and plan to add more to my safety kit.

    A must-have for every home

I keep several around the house. They’re refillable, which saves money over time, and the company will service and return them. I’ve used mine on small incidents and they worked well. Don’t want to be caught without one.

    Exactly as listed

    Arrived as described.

Worth having — may save lives

This is the kind of extinguisher you want at hand. Many homes have one; I keep several and am thinking of another two-pack. In an emergency every room should have access to one.

  5. L. Lu 5/5

    Stopped a dangerous battery fire

A lithium-ion battery overheated and produced an intense flame. I grabbed this and put it out quickly. Replaced the used unit with this exact model—glad I had it nearby.

You can’t go wrong owning one

Everyone should have at least one or more in their house. We haven’t needed ours yet, but it’s comforting to have it available. Buy one if you don’t already own one.

  7. Smokeydog 5/5

    Solid purchase

Both units were well packed with no damage and are ready for use. I’ve owned this brand’s extinguishers from safety awards years ago and they’ve held up without leaks.

One arrived partially discharged, replacement offered

Overall they seem well built, but one of the pair arrived with the retaining strap broken and powder inside the box. The gauge still read full, but instructions warned not to test. I contacted the seller and they offered a refund or a replacement; I chose a replacement and updated my rating.
