Product review

This farrier-style hoof knife combines a curved steel blade and a shaped wooden grip to make hoof trimming straightforward. The blade is made from 2Cr13 stainless steel and follows a scooped profile that matches the hoof contour for controlled cutting.

The handle is crafted from rubberwood and shaped to fit the palm, offering an anti-slip form that keeps the tool stable during use. The joint where blade and handle meet is solid, but the wood finish at that junction can be slightly rough and may benefit from gloves or a little sanding if desired.

At about 19.5 cm (7.68 in) overall length and approximately 121 g (4.27 oz) weight, the knife is light enough for extended use without tiring the hand. Its construction is intended for frequent trimming tasks and it performs well removing overgrown horn and cleaning the underside near the frog.

Suitable for many types of horses and other livestock such as cattle and donkeys, the tool is a practical addition to routine hoof care. What you receive: one hoof knife shears.

Pros

  • Curved 2Cr13 stainless blade for precise trimming
  • Ergonomic rubberwood handle with anti-slip shape
  • Lightweight and suitable for routine use

Cons

  • Handle finish can feel rough at the blade joint
  • Not a specialized farrier model for heavy-duty work
  • May require gloves for extended sessions

VerdictA solid, no-frills trimming tool that pairs a sharp, curved 2Cr13 blade with a comfortable rubberwood grip. It handles routine hoof work reliably for hobbyists and small-farm owners, though the handle finish can feel a bit rough where the blade meets the wood. Overall a dependable choice for regular maintenance on horses, ponies and similar animals.

Sharp cutter, handle finish could be smoother

Knife arrives sharp and trims cleanly. The blade fits into the handle solidly, but the joint is a bit rough—gloves help. Works well on smaller horses and ponies.

  2. SoundGuy 5/5

Great for DIY hoof care on minis and donkeys

I trim two mini donkeys myself and this tool made the job achievable even if my results aren't pretty. Easy to use left or right handed, sharp and sturdy. Removed excess growth around the frog and now it's a regular in my tack box.
