Product review

Constructed from tear-resistant 210T spun polyester, this tarp carries a PU 2000mm waterproof rating for reliable wet-weather protection. The material also helps reduce UV exposure when used as an overhead shelter, making it useful as a sun canopy as well as a rain fly.

The product doubles as a tough groundsheet: wear-resistant and designed to keep moisture out when laid under a tent or used as a ground cover. It can be draped as a shade, hung as a partition, or fixed as a protective layer to guard against wind, rain, and sun.

Dimensions are 7.55 x 4.59 ft (230 x 140 cm), suitable for one to three people depending on layout. For transport it compresses to about 6.69 x 4.33 in (17 x 11 cm) and stows in the supplied drawstring storage bag for convenient carrying.

Included in the kit are two metal stakes, two shorter guylines (approximately 3.94 ft each), two longer guylines (about 5.58 ft each), and two small storage pouches. Use the grommets to stake it as a footprint, tension it with guylines for a tarp shelter, or hang it over a hammock as a rain fly.

Its versatility makes it suitable for camping, backpacking, beach days, picnics, kayak trips, and other outdoor activities. Common uses include tent footprint, emergency tarp, hammock cover, picnic mat, kitchen shelter, and instant shade.

Pros

  • Light and highly packable for backcountry travel
  • Durable 210T polyester with PU2000mm waterproofing
  • Multiple tie-outs and uses (footprint, canopy, rain fly)

Cons

  • Included stakes are lightweight and can bend
  • Guyline elasticism may be unexpected for some
  • Shape limits full shade coverage in some setups

VerdictA compact, multipurpose tarp that provides solid waterproofing and sun protection in a very small package. The fabric and coating stand up to wind and rain, and the tarp packs tiny for backpacking or kayak trips. Hardware is basic — stakes and bungee-style guylines work but may be the weakest link for heavy-duty or long-term setups. Good choice for lightweight shelter, footprint, or emergency cove

Reviews

  1. Margaret 5/5

    Light but does the job

Strong-feeling yet lightweight fabric. Straightforward to assemble and easy to fold back into its bag.

  2. Rebecca Young 1/5

    Disappointed with durability

Poor quality — tore through the netting on first use and didn’t comfortably fit two people as advertised. Not water resistant enough; I had to add another tarp.

  3. S Parrott 5/5

    Surprisingly capable and packable

Great little tarp and reliable as a hammock rain fly. Kept me dry, packed small, and was simple to put up and take down.

  4. Pip 5/5

    Featherweight and reliable

Folds down tiny and hardly adds weight. Weather rolled in the first night and it shed water well. Comes with small bungees and replaceable pegs — great for backpacking.

  5. Shawn Donnelly 5/5

    Simple setup, kept us dry

Easy to rig and did exactly what it should when a storm rolled in during our trip. Stayed dry underneath.

Perfect fit for my van use

Size is just right for using as a tarp in my cargo van. Also works well as a picnic sheet, and the storage bag is handy.

  7. AM-AM 5/5

    Useful for kayak camping plans

Well-made and lightweight — exactly what I wanted for kayak trips to shelter during food prep. I didn’t carry it on two trips when rain wasn’t expected. If I were buying again I might try a hex-shaped tarp for more center coverage. Stakes are steel but very light.

  8. Chris 3/5

    Shape limits shade

The form of this tarp doesn’t provide broad shaded area — acceptable for rain protection but not ideal when you want full coverage.

  9. clair painter 5/5

    High visibility and tough tie-outs

Bright orange matched my tent and the tie-out points are plentiful and sturdy. Withstood very strong winds and rain without failing.

  10. Joseph 4/5

    Tarp is fine, attachments disappoint

Material and waterproofing are satisfactory. The ropes are elastic bungees rather than plain cord, and the supplied stakes are too flexible. Overall still a decent tarp if you’ll replace hardware.

  11. Andreas Friedrich 5/5

    Used mainly as a groundsheet

Exactly the dimensions we needed as a footprint for different tents. Protects the tent floor a bit and packs back into the original bag. Stakes and lines are adequate for securing the sheet.

  12. Angel Luis Lorenzo 5/5

    Essential for hiking and camouflage

Great camo pattern and ideal for bad weather as a ground cover or concealment with or without a tent. Highly recommended for mountain trips.
