Product review
What’s included: one NEMA 23 stepper motor (Model 23HS32-4004S) with 300 mm leads and manufacturer labeling.
Electrical details: This is a two-phase hybrid stepper with a 1.8° step angle (200 steps per revolution). Rated holding torque is 2.4 Nm (339.79 oz·in). The motor’s electrical ratings are 4.0 A per phase, phase resistance about 0.65 ohms, and inductance approximately 3.2 mH ±20% (measured at 1 kHz). It is intended to be driven from 24–48 VDC; 36 VDC is recommended for common microstepping/chopper drivers.
Mechanical and materials: Frame size is 57 x 57 mm with a body length of 82 mm. The shaft diameter is 8 mm with a total shaft length of 21 mm and a D-cut length of 15 mm to allow secure coupling. The unit uses a durable metal housing and a steel shaft for reliable torque transfer. The motor weighs about 1.2 kg and has four leads terminated in approximately 300 mm of insulated wire.
Connections and wiring: Lead color coding is A+ (black), A- (green), B+ (red), B- (blue). It is compatible with most two-phase stepper drivers that provide current limiting or chopping.
Usage and warnings: Install the motor with an appropriate constant-current or chopper drive controller. Do not connect the motor directly to a fixed-voltage supply — doing so can damage the coils. Proper driver current settings and cooling will extend life; running it beyond rated current risks overheating and reduced longevity.
Pros
- High holding torque suitable for CNC and lifting tasks
- Standard NEMA 23 form factor simplifies replacement
- Solid construction with precise 1.8° stepping
Cons
- Can run hot if driver current is set too high
- Relatively heavy for some lightweight projects
- Requires an appropriate current-limiting driver
VerdictA robust NEMA 23 option for hobby and light industrial motion control. It delivers substantial holding torque and precise 1.8° stepping for CNC, robotics, and stage or prototype actuation. When paired with an appropriate constant-current or chopper driver and set to the correct current, it runs reliably and stays cool; overdriving will shorten its life. Recommended
Excellent motor with plenty of force for my applications.

Reliable under speed
I run three of these in a machine. At 24 V and 4 A they provide good torque. I achieve 23,200 steps/s without missed steps; a higher-performance controller might push it further, but this setup is already demanding. Overall a solid motor.

Dependable performer
I installed this on my CNC A-axis and it has been rock solid. I’ve used several motors and drivers from the same maker and this one matches their usual quality. Would purchase again.

Plenty of torque for lifting
Used it to lift a lightweight theater prop with direct drive. Plenty of torque as long as speed is moderate; it stayed reliable and didn’t overheat.

Exactly as advertised
Arrived quickly and replaced a faulty motor on my CNC. Fits and runs like the original OEM part but at a much lower cost.

Better than expected
Matches another motor we had exactly. Fit perfectly and runs great.

Mind the current settings
I’ve used these in engravers, CNC machines, and for valve control. They last a very long time if you set the driver current to match the motor. Overdrive them and they’ll get hot and wear out sooner.
