What you get: a 10-pack of Leviton Lever Edge single-pole rocker switches (15 Amp) in white, model E5601-MW. Each unit is configured for single-pole lighting circuits and ships ready to install.

Wire compatibility and operation: These switches accept both 12 AWG and 14 AWG copper conductors, either stranded or solid. The termination method is a spring-assisted lever: flip the color-coded lever open, insert the stripped conductor into the rear port, then snap the lever shut. An audible click confirms the conductor is engaged and held. Wires can be released by flipping the lever back for adjustments.

Construction and safety: The bodies are made from a durable polymer blend and engineered to leave no exposed hot metal points on the device face or sides, reducing contact risk during installation. The lever terminals are color-coded to indicate the correct placement for hot, neutral (where applicable), and ground conductors, simplifying wiring and helping avoid miswiring.

Mounting and trim compatibility: A precision-engineered strap with a tongue-and-groove alignment system eases multi-gang trim-out and keeps adjacent devices aligned. The strap is made to accommodate Decora Midway wallplates as well as standard-sized Decora plates; removable top and bottom tabs allow use with typical single-gang covers. The larger flange helps cover slightly recessed or sunken electrical boxes.

Applications: These switches are suitable for bedrooms, living rooms, family rooms and other general-purpose lighting circuits in new construction, retrofits, and multi-dwelling unit projects. They are aimed at both DIYers and trade professionals who want a faster termination method with reliable retention and consistent performance.

Pros

  • Speeds installation with push-in lever terminations
  • Secure, click-locked wire retention with no exposed hot points
  • Fits Decora Midway and standard Decora wallplates; easy multi-gang alignment

Cons

  • Feels light-duty compared with commercial-grade devices
  • Removable tabs can be stubborn to snap off
  • Uses nonstandard screw head pattern that may need specific bits

VerdictThese Decora-style rocker switches speed wiring with push-in lever terminals that accept 12 and 14 AWG copper conductors and lock with an audible click. They offer secure, tool-sparing terminations, a larger alignment strap for multi-gang installs, and no exposed metal parts — a solid choice for typical residential and retrofit projects.

Reviews

  1. TexasRancher 5/5

    Impressive retention

Holding power on the lever terminals is very strong. I tugged on wires with some force and they did not pull free.

  2. Carolyn Bate 4/5

    Arrived damaged but functions

The outer box was beat up and one bottom screw was bent, so I swapped it out. The switch itself seems to work fine, but the shipping damage kept me from giving a perfect rating.

  3. Richard M 5/5

    Quick swap, very user-friendly

I replaced all switches and outlets in the house and the installation was straightforward and hassle-free with these switches.

  4. Squirrel 5/5

    Handy 10-pack

Good value in the 10-pack. Installation is much easier with the lever terminations—highly recommended for multiple swaps.

  5. Rick F 5/5

    Great for quick installs

Excellent grip on conductors—even when wires are cut shorter than ideal. Push the stripped wire in, flip the lever, and you're set. I also like that there are no exposed side screws.

  6. 2Andersons 5/5

    Did the job for rewiring

Worked as expected when I replaced old switches and added a pigtail for aluminum wiring. Fit the bill for the update.

  7. Lucia Guo Zeng 5/5

    Good for beginners

Ideal if you need to change many switches quickly—each one takes only seconds compared to traditional wiring. Note: the bottom tab can be a little hard to remove, so I recommend snapping it off before inserting wires.

  8. K. Faber 5/5

    Very pleased with the design

I'm sold on the lever termination—wires stay firmly held. The mounting screws remain attached to the strap and can be nudged into alignment, which simplifies installation. I used 14 AWG and they performed well.

  9. Tombo 5/5

    Solid construction and safer wiring

I like the Lever Edge system—components feel well made and accept both 14 and 12 gauge copper. Strip the wire, insert it, and seat the lever; flipping the lever releases the conductor if you need to redo it. I also appreciate that there are no exposed metal hot points to worry about when pulling the device from the box.

  10. patagoniac 5/5

Fast to wire, but note a few quirks

These line items are much faster to wire than traditional looped terminations and the larger flange helps with recessed boxes. They are lightweight, though, and the screw heads require a specific bit that may differ from older hardware.

  11. Cyrus 5/5

    Two-minute swap

Flip the breaker, a couple screws, and the new switch was in and functioning in minutes. Very simple replacement process.

  12. Nic S. 5/5

    Convenience meets smooth operation

Moving into an older home, I swapped out vintage switches for these Decora-style units. The lever terminals make seating wires quick, the built-in strip gauge helps with consistent wire length, and the switches operate very quietly compared with the original snaps.
