What’s included: Two 8-inch cylindrical air stones (pair), each approximately 2 inches in diameter by 8 inches long, with end caps and two square stabilizing holders to keep the unit steady on the bottom.
Materials and build: The cylinders are made from a dense, porous silicon carbide (carborundum-style) ceramic that forces air through many tiny pores to create a lot of medium-sized bubbles. Each unit weighs about 16 ounces, giving it a low center of gravity so it lies flat and resists shifting when aerating.
Performance specs: Model ASC200. Jetting volume is rated at about 24 L/min. Recommended air pump power is greater than 7 W to push air through the dense material effectively. Standard inner-diameter airline tubing sizes that fit the inlet are 3/16" or 3/8".
Usage and maintenance: Intended for larger reservoirs — outdoor ponds, garden bodies of water, large aquariums and DWC (deep water culture) systems. Not suited for small home fish tanks. Before first use, fully submerge and soak the stones for at least three hours to allow water to penetrate the pores. Over time the pores will accumulate debris; clean them periodically with a brush or by careful rinsing to restore bubble flow.
Pros
- Produces dense, even bubbles
- Weighted and stable in water
- Fits common airline tubing sizes
Cons
- Requires a relatively powerful pump
- Fragile if dropped or handled roughly
- Can clog and needs periodic cleaning
VerdictThese 8-inch cylinder air stones are built for larger systems that need strong, uniform aeration. They produce a steady curtain of medium-sized bubbles and come as a two-piece set suitable for ponds, large aquaria and hydroponic reservoirs. They are heavy and stable in the water, and perform well when paired with a sufficiently powerful air pump and correct tubing, but careful handling and protect

Chunkier than expected
The 3" cylinders were chunkier than I imagined, which was fine. They look like short cigars and push out very even, plentiful bubbles.

Performs well
Works great, arrived fast

Ozone hot tub setup
I paired an ozone generator with a small air pump and ran ozone through the stone into my hot tub and cold plunge outdoors. After weeks the water stayed clear without chemicals. Be cautious: ozone is effective but should not be inhaled, so run it on a timer and avoid breathing the gas when accessing the water.

Good but fragile
Perform well but fragile if handled roughly.

Good when intact
I like the size and shape for hydroponics; they disperse air well. However, multiple shipments arrived damaged due to flimsy packaging. Of three pairs ordered, only three of six stones were fully functional. Packaging needs improvement.

Made of dense ceramic
These appear to be silicon carbide ceramic. One of my pair had the inlet improperly drilled and was unusable. The other needed high pressure to produce bubbles — I had to combine lines to get enough airflow. Seems like industrial material repurposed for aquarium use.
