What’s included: the motorized dolly carriage with non-slip wheel rings installed, a metal 1/4" mounting stud, a 360° ball head with 90° tilt, an NP-F750 rechargeable battery, a USB-C cable for charging and firmware updates, spare wheel rings, an action-camera adapter and smartphone clamp, plus a padded carry case.

Construction and materials: the main body is metal alloy for weight and rigidity, giving the unit a reassuring heft that steadies movement. Wheels feature replaceable rubberized rings to improve traction and reduce vibration. The supplied ball head is metal with standard camera mounting threads and a locking knob for framing.

Power and runtime: runs from the included NP-F750 battery that delivers several hours of operation on a full charge; charge via the provided USB-C cable. The dolly houses dual brushless motors engineered to operate quietly (rated below 30 dB in normal use) to avoid audio interference during recording.

Controls and compatibility: wireless control is handled through the manufacturer’s app, which exposes Manual, Live Video and Time-Lapse modes (time-lapse requires a camera shutter cable sold separately). Speed is selectable across five presets (60 s/m, 50 s/m, 35 s/m, 25 s/m, 15 s/m). Steering is set manually by angling the center joint up to 30° left or right to create straight or curved tracks. Maximum supported payload is 6.6 lb (suitable for DSLRs and mirrorless bodies without long heavy telephoto lenses). Note: avoid starting at the highest speed when moving uphill to minimize oscillation.

Pros

  • Quiet dual motors and grippy wheel rings
  • NP-F750 battery with USB-C charging
  • App control with manual, live and time-lapse modes

Cons

  • Limited to low-angle, tabletop-style moves
  • Top speed is slow for larger tracking shots
  • Manual steering adjustment while stationary

VerdictThe DL400 is a heavy-feeling, well-built motorized dolly that delivers very smooth low-speed moves for product, tabletop, and social content work. Its dual ultra-quiet motors and grippy wheel rings keep motion stable on flat surfaces while app control adds useful remote options including time-lapse (requires a shutter cable). The compact size limits you to low-angle shots, but for that niche it’s

    Well-built with dependable, even movement

The metal chassis gives this dolly a reassuring heft and it doesn’t feel flimsy. Motion is consistent and free from jerks or sudden shifts in pace, which matters for smooth video. That reliable speed control makes it easy to hit predictable results. Battery life has been very good in my experience — longer than I expected between charges. The app remote is responsive and the dolly reacts promptly to commands.

A solid motorized dolly that feels substantial

You’ve likely seen compact dollies in both powered and passive versions. This DL400 feels like one of the sturdier options. It carries a noticeable weight—around 3.75 lb—which helps stability on smooth surfaces. It will support a full-size DSLR under the 6.6 lb limit, though long heavy lenses will push that envelope. Great for action cams and phones (even acceptable on a firm selfie extension). Speed choices are deliberately slow, ideal for tabletop product moves rather than high-speed tracking. Steering is set by bending the central section up to 30°, and motion is triggered and adjusted through the Neewer app. Movement is impressively quiet and steady.

Compact, quiet, and easy to use

For smoother moving shots without investing in a full slider setup, this little dolly is a fine option. Motors are quiet, wheel traction is good, and it holds a surprising amount of weight for its size. App control makes speed adjustments simple and the ball head offers enough tilt and rotation for most cameras, phones, or action cams. USB-C charging is handy and battery life is decent. A useful, compact tool for videos, time-lapses, and quick product work.

I really like it, but it’s a simple tool

I’m excited to have this dolly, but it’s useful to set expectations. Functionally it’s an electric carriage with five slow speeds and reverse. You can control speed and direction from onboard buttons or the app, and set travel endpoints for back-and-forth moves. Steering is manual and cannot be adjusted while running. There’s a 1/4" mounting bolt on top for cameras. It’s built like a tank—very rugged—but feature-wise it’s straightforward and focused on a narrow set of tasks.

    Great for smooth product videos

This slider has been excellent for clean, consistent product shots. Motorized motion produces steady tracking without manual pushing, and the unit’s weight helps prevent bounce. Build quality is solid and it’s been especially handy for filming small items and capturing different angles with minimal fuss. The results look professional compared to handheld attempts.

    Smooth pans for occasional use

I don’t use it constantly, but it’s been handy when needed. Its compact size limits how you can employ it — best on floors or tables — but it performs well in those settings. Control is straightforward with or without the app, though the app simplifies remote operation. Movement is smooth on flat surfaces and can be aided by image stabilization if needed. Overall, a useful device for a fairly specific set of tasks.

  7. Scott 4/5

Well-made and simple to operate, but shot options are limited

As a tiny mobile dolly it’s clever and easy to use. The unit is smaller than most RC cars and the app is intuitive — setup is quick. You’ll get very stable, controlled moves on flat surfaces. However, the form factor means shot variety is limited: you’re confined to the dolly’s low height and relatively slow speeds, so expect a particular style of shot rather than a wide range. Still, it’s a solid tool if that aesthetic fits your needs.

Handy kit for improving video production

I bought this to elevate my YouTube and freelance work and it’s been a big help for smooth pans without lugging a full slider. The app took a minute to master, but once set the dolly makes slow, elegant moves for product showcases. I filmed a desk tour with it and the footage was buttery smooth. Feels well built and handled my mirrorless camera without issues.

  9. Nick Papagiorgio 5/5

Cinematic moves without hauling big gear

I’ve used large dollies before, but they’re a hassle for quick setups. This compact unit is ideal for quick product and food shoots: place a camera or phone, set a slow move, and a static scene immediately looks more professional. Movement is smooth and motors are quiet enough to avoid audio issues. Manually adjusting wheel angle lets you create straight lines or curved passes around a subject, opening up creative possibilities despite the small footprint. The app took a bit of fiddling but is functional once learned.

  11. Rabbit 5/5

Extremely smooth and pleasure to operate

This is a delight to use. Everything feels well made and it comes in a padded case for protection. Build quality is tight with no rattles, and it includes two spare wheel rings which is thoughtful. You can run it manually without the app or use the app for manual and time-lapse control; the wireless connection was quick and responsive. Movement is very smooth and the five speed settings give useful options for different shots.
