Edited: Using it for compost — so far, pretty but with caveats
Updating after two days: I dropped one star for compost use. The lid doesn’t swing fully vertical, so bits of food can bounce off the lid or back and land on the floor. The opening is smaller than expected, which makes fast kitchen use fiddly. Also, the recessed lid tends to trap food residue and needs extra wiping during cleanup.
