Product review

This kit contains three ratchets sized at 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drives to cover the majority of fastening jobs.

Each ratchet is forged from a heat-treated chrome alloy offering the hardness needed for repeated torque cycles. A durable plated finish is applied to help prevent corrosion and extend service life.

The internal gearing is a 90-tooth design that requires roughly a 4° swing to engage the next tooth, making it appropriate for working in tight clearances. The pear-shaped head profile is intended to reach into narrow spaces where a conventional round head might bind.

Heads are enclosed to shield the ratchet mechanism from dust and grime, improving reliability in harsher environments. The directional lever on the head lets you switch between tighten and loosen with a single thumb movement.

Handles are contoured and fully polished so they lie comfortably in the palm and permit multiple grip positions, which helps reduce hand fatigue during sustained use.

Pros

  • Fine 90-tooth gearing for minimal swing arc
  • Hardened chrome-alloy construction for durability
  • Enclosed head and contoured handle improve reliability and comfort

Cons

  • Noticeable backdrag reported by some users
  • Selector lever is plastic on some models
  • Head may be slightly larger than some competitors

VerdictA solid, coverage-focused ratchet trio that delivers fine tooth geometry and convenient form for confined spaces. The set includes three common drive sizes, uses hardened chrome alloy for durability, and features a plated finish to resist corrosion. The 90-tooth mechanism gives very small swing increments so you can work in tight areas. The pear-style head improves access where conventional heads

Reviews

  1. glenn 5/5

    Well built and reliable

Very well made and dependable. Strongly recommend.

  2. Dante 5/5

    Solid, well-balanced tool

Excellent finish and a nicely balanced feel in the hand. The pawl snaps crisply into the gear so engagement is very positive even on the smaller 1/4" model. It’s made overseas but matches prior SK tools for feel. There is a bit of backdrive initially; a little oil helped and I expect it will ease with break-in rather than altering the spring.

  3. Anthony vazquez 5/5

    No complaints

That’s all I need to say.

  4. Randy 5/5

    Good look and feel

Looks great and feels solid in hand — good ratchet so far.

  5. Columbian 4/5

    Backdrag is a real issue

Fit and finish are excellent and it feels good to use, but the backdrag holds it back. Head is slightly bulkier than some rivals. Good value overall, but I’d still reach for other 90-tooth options if backdrive is a priority.

  6. Nelson O'Neill 3/5

Not like the older SK models

It works, but I’ve had it skip teeth while turning bolts that weren’t close to needing extreme force. Not as consistent as older SK ratchets I’ve used.

    Smoother after greasing

Worked fine after I opened it and added a small amount of red grease. Worth the effort. — Heavy diesel mechanic

  8. Insane Blaine 5/5

    3/8" drive performs solidly

The 3/8" unit feels robust with a nice chrome surface and firm ratchet action that doesn’t seem likely to skip. Backdrag is above average out of the box but may improve with use and lubrication. The direction selector is plastic, which isn’t ideal, but acceptable given the overall value.
