Compatibility check: These bulbs are built for AC 120V fixtures and use a G8 bi-pin base with 8mm spacing. They will not fit sockets designed for G4 or GY6.35 pins. Verify pin spacing, base type and fixture voltage before installing.

Light quality and dimming: Each lamp produces a warm 2700K color temperature suitable for relaxed, domestic lighting. They’re rated dimmable with compatible LED dimmer switches and can be adjusted down for lower light levels, though dimming smoothness depends on the dimmer and system.

Efficiency and lifespan: At 2 watts per bulb, they serve as a low-power replacement for 20–25W halogen bulbs, cutting energy use significantly. Lifespan is rated up to around 25,000 hours, reducing the need for frequent replacements and lowering maintenance.

Construction and form factor: The bulbs use a flexible silicone outer encapsulation around a T4 JCD-style profile, allowing the flattened shape to be bent slightly to fit into shallow fixtures. The silicone housing also provides a softer exterior compared with rigid glass.

Installation and common uses: The lamps install into standard G8 bi-pin sockets (8mm pin spacing) in 120V systems. Their compact, low-profile shape is ideal for under-cabinet and under-counter lights, puck and recessed fixtures, range hood and microwave lamps, and small task lamps or desk lighting. Ensure you’ve selected the correct voltage version; some LED replacements intended for other fixtures require 12V rather than 120V.

Pros

  • Very low power draw compared with halogen equivalents
  • Warm 2700K color suited for cozy task and accent lighting
  • Flexible silicone body fits shallow or constrained fixtures

Cons

  • Dimming behavior varies with dimmer models and may flicker
  • Occasional labeling inconsistencies on packaging
  • Color appears warmer (more yellow) than 3000K alternatives

VerdictThese G8 LED bulbs deliver warm 2700K light while using only 2W, making them an effective low-energy alternative to 20–25W halogen lamps. The silicone-wrapped, flat-profile design helps them sit neatly in shallow undercabinet and puck fixtures. When paired with a compatible LED dimmer they provide stepped dimming, though performance can depend on the dimmer model. Confirm the G8 bi-pin (8mm) base

Reviews

  1. SteveM 5/5

Fits my under‑cabinet fixture and bright enough

This slender, flat-profile bulb gives off plenty of light and slips into my under-counter cans much easier than round LEDs. I compared it to a more bulbous LED and the flatter shape is a huge advantage for fixtures designed for low-profile halogens. Dimming works in the three preset levels my system provides.

  2. Consuela Quinn 2/5

Good warm light but dimmer can be fussy

The 2700K warmth suits my kitchen and it lights the countertop well for quick tasks. However, on my existing dimmer it tends to flicker when I lower the level, so I usually keep it brighter than I’d like. It’s energy-efficient and fine for everyday use, just not ideal for very soft evening lighting on my dimmer.

  3. J T 5/5

Halogen-like color with much lower heat

The color closely resembles the halogens I removed and they run much cooler. They fit directly into my fixtures and my dimmer handles them without any flicker. Overall a clean swap for halogen lamps.

  4. JGCollins 4/5

Solid halogen swap for puck lights, watch specs

These replaced halogen puck bulbs easily and fit the original sockets. They look noticeably more yellow than the 3000K bulbs we had, so check color temp if that matters. Ensure you get the G8 120VAC version—many LED replacements come in G4 or 12V varieties. The bulbs are encapsulated in a silicone-like coating.

  5. Tom Buchanan 5/5

Great for pods — packaging mismatch worried me

They brighten small pod lights under my cabinets and the warm tone offsets the high output nicely. The listing said G8, but the outer package was labeled G4; I nearly returned them until I inspected the bulbs, which are indeed G8. Dimmable feature works as advertised.

  6. Chuck H. 5/5

Warm, dimmable lights that outshine original halogens

These provide a pleasing warm white and work in my microwave and cabinet fixtures. The box labeling was inconsistent between G4 and G8, but the individual bulbs are G8 and fit correctly. They dim for a nightlight setting and are brighter and more efficient than the original halogens.
