Overview
The M18 FUEL 1-inch D-handle Extended Anvil High Torque Impact Wrench is a cordless, brushless-drive tool engineered for heavy wheel service and industrial applications. This listing is for the bare tool only; batteries and charger are sold separately. It features a 1" drive with an extended anvil to reach recessed fasteners and a D-handle form factor for enhanced control during high-torque applications.
Construction and materials
The wrench uses a brushless POWERSTATE motor and a robust, steel impact mechanism designed to withstand demanding use. The housing combines a metal gearcase around the impact assembly with a durable composite overmold handle to balance durability and grip. The hardened, extended anvil is built for repeated high-load cycles and heavy sockets.
Performance and use
On a single HIGH OUTPUT HD12.0Ah pack this tool can remove and install roughly 120 lug nuts under typical service conditions, giving technicians extended runtime between charges. Three integrated LEDs surround the anvil to reduce shadows and brighten the immediate work area for wheel wells and undercarriage work. The D-handle layout helps stabilize the tool when breaking loose highly torqued fasteners and during extended use. It’s intended for professional mechanics and fleet maintenance where cord-free, high-torque performance is required.

Pros

  • Exceptional torque and runtime for wheel service
  • Tri-LEDs improve visibility with minimal shadows
  • Sturdy construction suitable for heavy use

Cons

  • Noticeably heavy during extended use
  • Sold as bare tool; battery/charger extra
  • Higher cost compared with smaller cordless impacts

VerdictThis M18 FUEL 1" D-handle impact wrench brings impressive torque and long runtime for demanding wheel and heavy-equipment work. It handles stubborn lug nuts easily, offers bright multi-LED lighting for better visibility, and pairs with Milwaukee’s tool ecosystem. Expect noticeable heft — the power tradeoff is weight — and professional users will appreciate its durability and on-tool control.

Reviews

  1. Cam 5/5

    Great

    Really like this tool.

  2. Kwalski84 5/5

    Fantastic performance

This wrench is awesome. Definitely worth the purchase for the jobs I do.

  3. fred 5/5

    Outperforms my air gun

It gives me more torque than my air unit. Heavier than the pneumatic gun but noticeably more powerful.

  4. mike 5/5

    Reliable in extreme cold

Working in Arctic conditions, air impacts can freeze up and make a short job drag out. This cordless breaks free stuck lug nuts without thawing hoses and guns, saving time. I’ve tried to find fasteners it won’t budge and haven’t found them yet. It’s an investment, but it pays off on tough jobs.

  5. Kindle Customer 4/5

Does the job, origin is a downside

Performs everything I need it to. My only gripe is that it’s manufactured in China.

  6. Garth&Debbie Sigleer 5/5

    Easily tackles stubborn lug nuts

High quality and built to handle large, demanding wheel jobs with ease.

  7. TheJollySkipper 5/5

    Raw power that impresses

I’d been wanting a heavy cordless for years and this one delivers. I moved rims between trucks and it ripped through about 80 33mm lug nuts and still had plenty of charge left on a recommended 12Ah pack. It’s a handful — after a couple wheels my arms felt it — but a younger tech would hardly notice. I also discovered the app connectivity after buying it; you can tweak settings and locate a lost unit. Solid, commercial-grade tool.
