Product review
Included: one VESSEL No. 77-10 rubber/plastic hammer (single head supplied, no additional replacement heads included).
Dimensions and weight: total length 12.4 inches (315 mm); head diameter 1.3 inches (32 mm); head length 4.7 inches (120 mm); weight approximately 15.2 oz (430 g).
Head construction: dual-material head using rubber and plastic compounds to protect work surfaces while delivering a decisive strike. The head is engineered for consistent contact and controlled energy transfer rather than heavy demolition.
Handle and grip: the handle is a lightweight shaft reinforced with an internal steel core for added stiffness and strength. A gel layer under the outer grip increases palm contact and cushions impact, while a convex non-slip texture helps keep the tool secure during use.
Performance and use: the mallet emphasizes head balance and a firm, predictable strike. It is well suited for light-duty assembly, woodworking adjustments, laminate flooring and on-site fixture fitting where surface care and tactile feedback are important. Avoid prolonged use in oily conditions as the head materials are intended to remain clean and dry for longest life.
Pros
- Excellent balance for controlled strikes
- Gel-padded, non-slip grip reduces hand shock
- Protective rubber/plastic head for surface-safe impacts
Cons
- Heads are relatively firm and can feel brittle to some users
- Not designed for heavy mechanic or industrial pounding
- Only a single head supplied; extra replacements not included
VerdictThis VESSEL 77-10 rubber/plastic hammer delivers a well-balanced, controlled blow for light assembly, finishing work and installations where surface protection matters. The gel-padded, convex grip reduces hand shock and helps maintain hold. Heads are firm to provide accurate strikes but are not intended for heavy mechanized pounding or oily environments. It’s a solid choice for carpentry, fixture

Made disassembling a metal rack easy
I used the rubber face to remove tight shelves from a metal rack. It made the job much easier and more certain than trying by hand. Wish I had bought it sooner; owners of metal shelving will find it useful.

Comfortable and non-slip
Handle feels less slippery than my old tool and is very easy to use. I switch between the rubber and plastic faces depending on the task.

Not suited for heavy mechanic work
Works well for occasional home tasks like furniture fitting or small woodworking tweaks, and is handy for laying laminate. The striking faces are firmer than I expected and may chip sooner than traditional steel-faced hammers. I bought it hoping to use it for engine assembly on aluminum parts, but the head warns against contact with oil. The grip is very comfortable thanks to the gel layer. The head body appears to be an aluminum or composite press-fit, and the handle is a light plastic shaft with a central steel rod for reinforcement.

Quick delivery, clear product but note single head
Delivery was fast despite a brief routing mix-up. The mallet’s size, weight and design are exactly what I wanted. One thing to note: the listing shows replacement faces in photos but the package contains only the single mallet, so buyers should expect one unit.

Cost reflects quality
High-quality construction; it costs more than budget options but performs reliably and feels durable.
