Product review
Domed hood with integrated LED bar: this unit includes a domed plastic hood, an energy-efficient white LED lamp strip with a separate blue night-light mode, a clear protective lens beneath the LED to shield it from water and residue, and two sets of hinges so the lid can be attached to a variety of common tank frames. The canopy is formed from durable molded plastic and uses a slim, low-profile design to keep heat low while delivering a shimmering, sunlight-like effect across the water column.
The hood measures 20 inches by 10 inches and is intended for use on Marineland 10G, 16G and 20XH sized aquariums. Cutouts in the hood allow for standard power filters and heaters; however, this 20 x 10 version does not include an extra large cutout for oversized filter units. Installation is straightforward: attach one of the hinge sets to the tank frame, set the lid in place, and plug the low-voltage LED into the slide switch. The hinged design provides easy access for feeding, maintenance, and equipment adjustments without removing the entire canopy.
LED advantages: the white LEDs produce a crisp, natural-looking shimmer that many hobbyists prefer to older incandescent setups, while the blue night mode offers a subdued viewing option after dark. The light operates cool and consumes very little power. The manufacturer offers this style in multiple sizes to fit common small-to-medium tanks and designed the hood to work for both freshwater and marine setups.

Disappointed with flimsy clips and dim light
The plastic clips felt thin and the mounting hardware wasn't as described. The light output was underwhelming for my expectations, so I felt let down by the purchase.

Had an issue but replacement was prompt
My cover arrived with a partially working light; customer service replaced it quickly. After that the unit worked well and was acceptable for the cost.

Easy to set up and accommodates cords well
Setup went smoothly after a little patience with the hinges. The smaller removable lid section made it simple to fit my double-sided filter; heater and airline tubing passed through easily. I secured the LED bar to the lid and it has stayed put.

Perfect fit for our larger tank
Fitted our 30-gallon setup with room for a big filter and bubbler. The day/night lighting modes are handy and access for feeding and maintenance is excellent.

Nice lighting but switch lost contact after years
Used it for about four years; lighting and blue night mode were great. Recently the slide switch started failing—pressing it re-engages the LEDs, but the switch itself seems worn and needs attention.

Good replacement for an aging hood
Replaced a worn-out hood that had water deposits and loose bulb sockets. This LED canopy is a reliable upgrade — solid build and safer electrics compared with the old lighted hood.

Five stars — as described
Exactly as described and delivered quickly. No problems during setup.

Sturdy plastic; allowed me to pick a larger filter
Plastic felt thicker than expected. Rather than enlarging the filter slot I bought a slightly larger power filter that fit perfectly and left room for a heater cord. Recommend sizing up your filter capacity for overfeeding or heavy bioloads.

Great value with attractive lighting
The LEDs produce a clean white light that looks very attractive in the tank. Night mode is dramatic. A protective plastic strip under the LED helps keep the strip safe from splashes, which I appreciated.

Solid light with a pleasant night mode
I hesitated after reading complaints about moisture, so I sealed seams as a precaution. The hood throws a pleasant, natural light and the blue "moon" mode is a great nighttime accent. It does cast slight shadows at the extreme edges, but nothing that bothers the fish.

Answers common questions: bright enough for 10G
This 20-inch hood lights a 10-gallon tank very well. Brightness is a big step up from old incandescents and plants are doing fine under the LEDs. Corner falloff is minor and mostly unnoticeable.

Lovely, natural-looking light and a modern hood
Very happy with the lighting. Replaced an old yellowish incandescent and awkward CFLs; this hood’s white LEDs look far more natural and spread light evenly across the tank. The sleek hood updates the tank’s look and the hinged top makes maintenance easy.
