Product review

This product is a combined granular fertilizer and systemic insect control for roses, flowers and landscape ornamentals. Packaged as a 5 lb bottle of granules, one container treats up to about 40 rose bushes when applied as directed.

The formula is designed to be taken up through the plant’s roots, supplying nutrients that encourage strong root systems and more abundant flowering while simultaneously moving an insecticidal active ingredient through plant tissues to target sap-feeding and chewing pests. It is labeled for use on roses, iris, hibiscus, azaleas, camellias, rhododendrons and many other landscape ornamental shrubs.

Pest targets listed include Japanese beetles (adults), aphids, leafhoppers, caterpillars, scale, leafminers, whiteflies and other specified pests. Application is straightforward: measure the recommended amount, sprinkle the granules around the root zone, work them lightly into the soil, then water thoroughly to activate uptake — no foliar spraying required. Once taken up, the protection is rainproof for up to eight weeks.

Active Ingredients: Imidacloprid 0.22%. EPA Registration Number: 92564-23. Availability is restricted in certain states: not for sale in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington; there are additional restrictions in Florida.

Pros

  • Combines fertilization and systemic insect control
  • Rainproof protection that lasts up to eight weeks
  • Easy granular application—no spraying required

Cons

  • Contains imidacloprid, which can harm pollinators
  • Not available for sale in several states
  • Some users report reduced bloom longevity or smaller buds

VerdictA convenient single-step granular solution that combines fertilizer and systemic insect protection. It’s easy to apply around the plant base and provides weeks of rainproof protection while promoting stronger roots and more vigorous foliage. Effective against a wide range of listed pests, but carries pollinator risks and is restricted in several states, and a few users report shorter-lived or smal

Reviews

  1. xxzlof 5/5

Keeps Japanese beetles away, reapply during season

I’ve used this for several years on my roses and it really cuts down on beetles. Expect to reapply once or twice during the growing season for continuous control.

All-in-one feeding and insect control — great results

This dual-action granule made caring for my flowers much simpler. Within a couple of weeks foliage looked greener and plants put on steadier growth. It also kept common pests like aphids at bay for many weeks. Application was simple around the base of each plant. I’d suggest it for anyone wanting fuller blooms and fewer insect problems.

  3. Moongie 5/5

Worked well and simple to use

This stopped the tiny green worms chewing my rose leaves. Very easy to apply and my roses bounced back nicely. Happy with the results.

  4. C. Brooks 5/5

    Good for multiple ornamentals

Treated roses, azaleas and clematis with this and saw improvement across all of them. Very pleased with the outcome.

    My spring repurchase

I buy this every spring — my garden responds well and the beds look healthier season after season.

  6. PSach 5/5

    Revived shrubs and flower beds

This product transformed my shrubs and flowers. I now rely on it, though it is a bit pricey compared with other options.

  7. Richard Robinson 5/5

    Effective but concerning for pollinators

It helped my roses grow and bloom without insect damage, but I learned it’s harmful to bees. I value pollinators more, so I decided not to continue using it.

  8. That's So Ace 4/5

Reduced pests but flowers seemed short-lived

I bought it to curb the yearly bug issues and the infestation was much milder. However, the blooms faded after a day or two and looked like they dried up quickly. Buds were noticeably smaller and some never fully opened, leaving several half-dead flowers. The granules are convenient versus frequent sprays, but I felt I lost bloom quality for plant health.
