Product review
This CAP Olympic trap and shrug bar ships with the bar assembly, removable sleeve adapters for 1" plates, integrated loading jacks, and transport wheels. Built from alloy steel and finished in a protective black powder coat, the bar is engineered to handle up to 500 lb and meets ASTM testing standards.
The frame uses an open, diamond-shaped (U-style) design that creates ample interior clearance — approximately 25 inches between the handles — so you can step into the bar easily and adopt a secure stance for deadlifts, lunges, split squats, farmer carries, and shrugs. Two neutral-handle heights are provided: raised handles for a higher starting point that shorten the initial pull, and flush handles for a more conventional trap-bar range of motion.
Handles measure about 1.25 inches in diameter and are machined with medium-depth knurling to provide a secure but not aggressive texture for heavy pulls and carries. The bar itself weighs roughly 28 lb, positioning the load symmetrically around your torso for a stable, balanced lift.
Each sleeve is approximately 9.5 inches of loadable length and accepts 2-inch Olympic plates; the included sleeve adapters let you use 1-inch standard plates if needed. Built-in loading jacks allow you to rotate the bar onto its supports to lift the sleeves off the floor for easier loading and unloading between sets. Removable sleeve adapters add flexibility for mixed plate collections, and the transport wheels simplify moving the unit around a garage or gym.
Hardware is standard metric/imperial fasteners that can be tightened with common tools; the unit ships disassembled and assembles quickly. Designed for multi-exercise use, the trap bar supports shrugs, deadlifts, farmer carries, step-through lunges, and other compound movements that benefit from a neutral grip and enclosed frame.
Pros
- Raised and flush neutral handles for varied range of motion
- 500 lb capacity with Olympic and standard plate compatibility
- Loading jacks and wheels for easier plate changes and transport
Cons
- Requires periodic retightening of fasteners
- Slightly lighter construction than one-piece welded bars
- Raised handle spacing may feel wide for smaller users
VerdictA versatile trap bar that places weight around the body for balanced deadlifts, shrugs, and carries. Its raised handles reduce starting range of motion while removable adapters and loading jacks make plate changes simple. Solid construction and practical extras suit home and light commercial use.

Perfect for at-home bone-strength work
Easy to step into and load, ideal for my lighter at-home sessions to improve bone density. I still do heavy training at the gym, but this bar lets me safely work alone.

Great for a home gym
Does what I need at home. Not as heavy-duty as welded commercial bars, but it handles a few hundred pounds fine. Easy assembly and roomy interior for lunges; handle spacing may be wide for smaller lifters.

A bit tall for some reps
Easy to assemble and very sturdy. The only downside is the high handle position — good for loading plates but it reduces the deadlift range of motion for me.

Good first impressions
Used it with about 80 lb plus the bar and it handled fine. Assembly took under 15 minutes solo. Lightweight and portable — I’d stick to the stated 500 lb rating rather than pushing it further.

Well-built and straightforward
Olympic sleeves, solid welds, and a packaged unit that assembled simply. Weighs about 28 lb and required common tools for bolts. Recommend having someone to help align pieces, but doable solo.

Easy to put together, holds up well
Assembly was straightforward and the bar feels more durable than expected. I tightened the bolts with common sockets and it’s been solid through regular sessions. Plates from reputable brands fit without trouble.

Heavy-duty addition to my setup
A solid piece of kit that made deadlifts easier on my back and freed up my Olympic bar for other lifts. Assembly is straightforward if you keep bolts organized.

Everything arrived intact, grips have good space, quick to assemble, and very sturdy. Rubber grips help a lot — overall a reliable unit.
