Design and dimensions: The airstone uses a flattened, bread-style disc profile designed to remain stable on substrate without rolling. Individual stones measure approximately 5.8 x 4.4 cm (2.3 x 1.7 inches) and weigh about 90 g (3.17 oz), with a flat bottom that helps keep each unit stationary for steady bubble distribution.
Materials and performance: Manufactured from high-temperature sintered mineral and ceramic, these diffusers produce very fine, abundant bubbles that enhance water movement and oxygen dissolution. The micro-bubble output helps support active fish, shrimp, and live plants by improving dissolved oxygen levels across the tank.
Compatibility and setup: Each stone is fitted for a standard barbed connection that accepts 5/32" (4 mm) internal-diameter airline tubing. For consistent, even diffusion across the full surface, use an air pump stronger than 4 W; larger pumps provide the volume and pressure needed to force air through the stone’s entire area. Suitable for freshwater and marine aquaria, small ponds, and deep-water culture hydroponic systems.
Durability and safety: The natural mineral and sintered ceramic construction is chemically inert and will not change water chemistry or harm aquatic life. The robust build tolerates routine handling and cleaning without degrading quickly.
Maintenance and care: Before first use, submerge each stone in water for at least three hours to prime the porous material. To preserve output, gently scrub the surface with a stiff brush every few weeks to remove detritus. Replacement is generally recommended every 6–12 months depending on usage and water conditions.

Pros
- Creates very fine, abundant bubbles to boost oxygen
- Heavy flat base keeps stones stable on tank bottoms
- Inert sintered mineral construction — long lasting
Cons
- Needs a high-volume air pump for even diffusion
- Requires soaking before use and periodic scrubbing
- Limited lifetime — replace every 6–12 months
VerdictThese sintered mineral diffusers deliver dense, micro-fine bubbles and sit firmly on tank bottoms thanks to a heavy, flat base. They’re chemically inert and suitable for freshwater, saltwater, ponds and DWC hydroponics. Expect excellent durability, but plan to use a powerful air pump and follow the soak-and-scrub maintenance routine. Good long-term performance if installed and serviced as recommen

Recommended, but needs a powerful air pump
I discovered that these stones are much larger than typical diffusers and demand a high-volume pump to perform properly. With a weak pump the bubbles come from only a few spots and most of the surface stays unused; you have to push substantial air volume and pressure to get even distribution. On the upside, they’re tough — I dropped one onto concrete expecting it to shatter, but it held up surprisingly well.

Longtime hobbyist — very impressed
As a 62-year-old aquarium enthusiast I’ve tried many styles; these outperform the small plastic-attached stones commonly sold. I run a 150-gallon freshwater show tank with a sump and this mineral unit provides excellent bubble coverage and has a sturdier rock portion than the cheap plugged stones that tend to fail at the hose connection. I keep parameters close to neutral and do regular maintenance; the stone has been reliable so far.
